Neil Patrick Harris wins Emmy for 'Glee'

Neil Patrick Harris earned his first-ever Emmy Awards at Saturday's Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles for his guest spot on "Glee" and for hosting the 63rd Annual Tony Awards.

Harris' Emmys are the first in his decades-long television career. He is also nominated for best supporting actor in a comedy series for "How I Met Your Mother." That award will be handed out at next Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards.

When accepting his guest actor prize Saturday, Harris congratulated fellow "Glee" nominee Mike O'Malley for his work on the show, and thanked his partner, David Burtka. For his Tony win, Harris said, "I want to thank Boomer from The Envelope who told me I was even eligible for this award!" The actor was referring to a gaffe discovered by the Los Angeles Times that excluded him from the original nominees' list.

Lane to Britney: 'Back door Matt'

As spokesman for the group, Lane approached Britney privately in the early hours of Saturday morning and said: "Now listen carefully. What do you think about back dooring Matt? Matt is a much bigger threat than Brendon."

After a few seconds of silence, Britney replied: "If Brendon wins POV tomorrow, I'm on board with sending Matt home. If he doesn't, I have no reason to get rid of Matt. Plus, how do I know that you and Hayden aren't just trying to make me do what y'all two want me to do?"

After reassuring her that he wasn't trying to control her, Lane gave Britney a hug and wished her "sweet dreams" before returning to the main floor of the house.

Brendon and Enzo had earlier been nominated for eviction by HOH Britney.

Earlier today EA held it’s press conference at the Palladium in Cologne, Germany. The publisher took the opportunity to showcase a number of highly anticipated titles from their exciting line-up as well as reveal a few surprises along the way.

One of those surprises was the debut of the Kinect challenge mode in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows videogame. Not only did EA give us a brief glimpse into this new mode of the game, but they did it in true style with none other than the twins James and Oliver Phelps who portray the mischievous Weasley brothers, Fred and George, in the successful Harry Potter film franchise.

Lindsay Lohan Offered $1 Million For First Post-Jail Interview

If anyone was wondering how Lindsay Lohan would make a living after her stay in jail and in-patient rehab, we now have our answer. The 24-year-old actress, who hasn't headlined a theatrical release since 2007, is set to net a lucrative payday for her first post-sentence interview.

OK! magazine has offered Lohan $1 million for the interview, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lohan has reportedly not yet agreed to the deal — she's still receiving treatment at a rehab facility run by UCLA Medical Center — but she will likely be released well before completing the court-ordered 90-day treatment plan, instead entering an out-patient program. Thus we might be hearing from Lohan — and the actress might be cashing a hefty paycheck — sooner than previously expected.

Lohan, of course, won't be the first celebrity to be offered a big payoff following a personal scandal or tragedy. In 2007, after serving a short jail stint, Paris Hilton was reportedly offered as much as $1 million from NBC for her first post-jail interview before that deal fell through and she appeared on "Larry King Live," reportedly without payment. NBC also reportedly paid $2 million for an interview with Prince William and Prince Harry and the American rights to broadcast a concert in honor of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Whichever outlet ultimately lands the Lohan interview, it should expect to pony up some serious cash, as the actress' professional opportunities are limited at this point. She was fired from "The Other Side" in April, with the film's director, David Michaels, saying that "producers of the movie have reported that financiers have been resistant to finance the movie with Lindsay in the lead role." He added that Lohan was simply "not bankable."

She does have a small role in Robert Rodriguez's "Machete," but it's not clear she'll be free to promote the film. Meanwhile, the filmmakers behind "Inferno," a biopic in which Lohan is set to star as 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace, remain committed to the actress, though the indie flick will hardly deliver a significant payday.

In addition to the interview paycheck, THR reports that Lohan could attract appearance fees in New York and Los Angeles that range anywhere from $25,000 to $100,000. Yet it remains to be seen whether Lohan can make the necessary personal and professional changes to stay out of legal trouble in the future, especially as she heads back into the media spotlight so soon after jail and rehab.

"She can take this and she can learn from it and it becomes a cathartic event in her life," Howard Bragman, founder of publicity firm Fifteen Minutes, told MTV News. "The one thing we haven't heard from Lindsay is 'I'm sorry, I have a problem, I'm going to resolve it.' She doesn't have PR problems, she has life problems. You can't fix your problems until you admit you have them. I think she needs a lot of therapy. She needs to let her career be second and her life be first."

James Cameron re-inserts 'Avatar' sex scene

Speaking to MTV, Cameron described the lovemaking scene between Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana as "alien foreplay", noting that it lasts "all of about 20 seconds".

Cameron said: "It's been restored, every last frame of it. Seriously. I would say, just so that we correctly manage people's expectations, it does not change our rating at all. I would call it more of an alien foreplay scene. It's not like they're ripping their clothes off and going at it."

In a separate interview with Movieline, Cameron explained that he removed the scene for the initial theatrical run after getting a negative reaction from test audiences.

"I always felt that it was a good moment, so I wanted to put it back in," he said. "I mean, what have I got to lose? The film's already a big hit. I think it’s actually an illumination of the Na'vi way: There’s a Na’vi way for everything, including making love.

"Of course, I just want to be clear for the record that it's only an additional 20 seconds. The 'horizontal bop' part of it still takes place off camera after the dissolve."

Remember Ann, the 6'2" contestant with quite possibly the smallest waist we've ever seen?

Well, there's been quite a bit of backlash over this clip, such as on Showbiz Tonight (won't embed), and the CW has stopped airing it completely.

First and foremost, I want to give a personal shout-out to each and every one of you who spoke out and took a stance on the Top Model Cycle 15 teaser trailer that was released last week. My life's mission is to expand the definition of beauty - EVERY kind of beauty! This is one of the reasons I created “America’s Next Top Model” just 8 years and 15 Cycles ago…since then we’ve challenged all different stereotypes of beauty with race, weight, height and beyond. The overwhelming response sparked by the Top Model trailer shows that the overarching message of the show – to accept and celebrate all types of beauty – is reaching and affecting our viewers. I knew I had to address this once I realized that this message was on the line.

On behalf of the entire Top Model team, I am truly sorry for the style in which the Top Model promo clip was presented. Like all of my projects, I am extremely involved in “America’s Next Top Model” from casting the final contestants to conceptualizing the episode challenges, but with all the work and details that go into producing a TV show, I can’t be 100 places at once (although I try), but it’s just impossible for me to see everything that’s created before it’s released to all of you! That being said I can assure you – that cut has been removed from the CW airwaves, and the message conveyed in that video was NOT intentional, and is certainly not Top Model- or Tyra-approved. The Top Model team is extremely talented and truly enjoys creating fun, engaging promos and episodes for you. The team really wants to entertain you, while promoting and embracing multiple forms of beauty. Sometimes in the quest to have fun in a limited amount of time, especially in a 20-second promo, our overarching message can be misconstrued, and in this case it most certainly was.

To the people who see me as a representation of upholding the fact that beauty comes in all sizes, I personally apologize. The jokes of my fellow judges connected with my edited sound bite sounded like I was supporting unhealthy eating habits. This has never and will NEVER be the case – I am and will always be committed to promoting healthy body image.

As a pre-teen, much of the body image pain I experienced was NOT being able to gain weight. Being so incredibly thin, I was the receiver of countless stares; feeling helpless. I've also been (VERY) publicly attacked for being bigger. Being on the receiving end of both sides of that pain has really shaped my perspective.

I want the media and viewers to continue to challenge perceptions of beauty, but to understand that BEAUTY comes in all shapes, sizes and proportions. I have always celebrated uniqueness, and encourage women, myself included, to accept and embrace their own bodies – flaws and all! Whether it’s exaggerated curves (or lack thereof), bee sting boobies, a juicy booty or a big ole’ forehead (eh-hem) – it’s about rocking what we’ve got.

Ann (the young woman featured on the Cycle 15 promo) like so many other women that stand before us on the Top Model judging panel or approach me on the street, was experiencing her own internal struggles with her body, and the cruelty she faces on a daily basis directly related to the way she looks (stemming from her 6'2" height), some of which is revealed in the upcoming season. I offered her the same level of support and encouragement I’ve extended to all younger women that have opened up to me – the girls and young women who attended my TZONE camp way back, guests on The Tyra Show, past Top Model contestants and strangers on the street. Having the opportunity to be there and help all of these women drives me to further my mission.

Taking a look ahead, on Sept 15th, week two of the new episodes of Cycle 15, we do a photo shoot that deals with beauty, body image and bullying. This is an issue that I'm passionate about and am so happy we did. The girls really express what they are insecure about in a big way. Many sensitive issues are discussed at the shoot and in the judging room. I'd like to ask you to do something - it would be great if you could show support for them as well as people you know going through similar circumstances. The Top Model girls exposed themselves, to heal themselves and you. For some, it was a painful process.

Again, if you're ever unhappy with anything you see, we want to know. I want to know. Thank you so much.

Joshua Jackson says 'Fringe writers are delinquents'

Joshua Jackson admitted that he has no idea how some of the Fox drama's more gruesome plots are conceived.

"I'm pretty convinced that most of the writers on my show are delinquents," he quipped. "Because if they're thinking of these things without the influence of alcohol or drugs, they're really in a dark place in their lives and they need some serious help."

Jackson also revealed that he has an in-depth knowledge of the show's mythology, but confessed that he is often outsmarted by fans.

"I think I know my show, [but the fans] are knowledgeable in an almost terrifying way," he explained.

'Mad Men' star: Pete is more confident now!

'Mad Men' star: 'Pete is more confident' to be overshadowed by Don Draper (Jon Hamm).

However, the actor insisted that Pete will become more confident as the fourth season of the show continues.

"There's only one Don Draper," he told TV Guide. "When you work alongside somebody like that, you make your peace with being a beta male."

He added: "Pete got a promotion, he's feeling more comfortable with his status, and he knows more about who he is. His angst is down and his confidence is up."

He also explained that the womanising aspect of the character would be reduced in the new episodes.

"It was as if Pete had to take on the image of the playboy only to realize he isn't really that guy," he suggested.

Kartheiser, who previously admitted that he rides the bus in LA to avoid being recognised, confirmed that he still takes public transport to work, despite the success of Mad Men.

He said: "People see me on the streets of LA and they must think, 'Hey, there goes that guy from Mad Men. But look at him, he's all sweaty.' "

The star has told an Australian mag how she is looking forward to spending the next five years with the hit TV show’s cast and crew.

The 28-year-old Oscar winner said: “I can’t think of a group of people that I would rather spend the next five years of my life with. It’s just a dream come true as an actor.”

But the star is still mystified as to why people are so fascinated with vampires. “Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they’re often very sexy – and kind of dangerous,” she said.

The New Zealander also tells Famous magazine season three of the series is definitely the sexiest so far.

Anna, who is engaged to True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, added: “It’s been full of weird, kinky vampire sex from the very beginning, so I’m kind of used to it by now.”

Justin Bieber Tweets Enemy's Phone Number to 4.5 million Followers

Saturday night, a tweet appeared then quickly vanished on teen heartthrob Justin Bieber's verified Twitter account: "everyone call me 248-XXX-XXXX :) or text". The number belonged to a teen in Detroit, and Justin apparently tweeted it out of revenge.

Saturday night around midnight, Justin tweeted this:

A few minutes later, the tweet disappeared. But not before thousands—if not hundreds of thousands—of Justin's followers retweeted it with expressions of multi-exclaimated astonishment. Was that actually Justin's number!?

The number actually belongs to a Detroit teenager named Kevin Kristopik. At around 1am Sunday morning Kristopik tweeted "Thanks for giving out my # @justinbieber." Two hours, and over 10,000 text messages later, he posted this video to YouTube of his phone blowing up with calls and texts from Bieber's 4.5 million Twitter followers:

Gawker called one of the numbers visible in the video, and the girl who answered confirmed she called Kristopik's number at around midnight last night. "I thought it was some kind of prank number," she said. "I didn't think Justin Bieber would be stupid enough to post his own number."

It's unclear exactly what Kristopik did that caused Justin Bieber to sic the equivalent of Greater Boston's population on him. But it appears to be payback on some level for Kristopik hacking the Twitter account of a childhood friend of Justin's named Ryan Butler, and using it to get Justin's phone number. On July 27th, Kristopik tweeted"im the one who hacked ryan and got justins #." When asked today on Twitter, "You hacked ryan, and now jb wants payback so he tweeted your number?" Kristopik repied, "Kinda." (This episode apparently well-known in the strange world of Justin Bieber micro-gossip.)

It's possible that Justin's own account was hacked. But since last night, he's made no mention of it and has been blithely tweeting stuff about hanging out with Kanye West all morning. But Kristopik is fuming: "I never asked for it, @justinbieber is a dick," he tweeted. "i still like him, but this was so low."

Gawker tried to reach Kristopik multiple times this afternoon, but calling his number brings up only an automated message: "The mailbox belonging to 248-[redacted] is full and cannot accept new messages at this time."

We can't honestly say whether The Wall Street Journal's laggy iPad rendition was a success at $17.29 per month, but either way Rupert Murdoch's News Corp is gearing up for another try at this whole digital news thing. The LA Times reports that Murdoch is planning an entirely new national publication for the iPad and other devices -- in other words, not just a print-to-digital conversion this time. "Unlike News Corp.'s business-centric Wall Street Journal, the new digital newspaper would target a more general readership, offering short, snappy stories that could be digested quickly," writes the Times, adding that sources say the digital paper could launch by the end of the year.

Dan Radcliffe made a surprise appearance at this weekend's Movie-Con III to promote Deathly Hallows, and talked about the movie (plus a new clip was shown there, but it's not online).

Are you done?
“Yes, we finished. I promised myself it wouldn’t end on green screen but inevitably it did. The last shot was us jumping through the screen onto a mat.

Were you in bits?
“Not then but afterwards. I’ve never seen Rupert Grint cry before; it was weird. It was like seeing your Dad cry. But now we’re on to new things and I’m looking forward to the future. I’m very excited about The Woman In Black. I think James (Watkins) is great; he’s going to be the next Chris Nolan I think.”

You’re going to have to be scared a lot.
“Yes, but that’s OK; I’m good at scared faces.” [demonstrates his scared face, which is admittedly accomplished]

What was making this double Potter like though?
“It was hard. Before, the producers and directors were very good at taking all the pressure on their shoulders, but this time going into it we were slightly more nervous than we were before, because we didn’t want to screw it up as the last one.

It was a long shoot, near enough 18 months, but a film set is the best place in the world as far as I’m concerned. The first part is a very weird road movie kind of thing. The first part is slower paced, but only compared to the second part. There’s more of an exploration of the relationships between the characters, that’s tested for the first times. And you’re not in Hogwarts, which gives it a very different feel from the other movies.

It’s a road movie, in a weird way, and it’s how the characters function outside those familiar surroundings. The second part starts as a heist movie and then turns into a war. It’s epic. The thing they did on the last day was to play us the trailer, and there was a collective sigh of, “Phew, it’s going to be really good”. This is the first time I’m genuinely excited to see the film. Because it was filmed over such a long period, I’ve genuinely forgotten what we shot early on."

Have you watched the films on DVD?
“I do, but I rarely watch them. I have two friends – just two! – and one wants me to play the Lego Harry potter game with him, and the other wants me to give him an uncensored commentary with them sometime."

So a Potter-thon?
“No! I do get really embarrassed watching the early one. I was talking to Emma on set once on set and saying how bad we were, and we were on mike, and suddenly I heard Mike Newell shout, “You got it because you were both BLOODY ADORABLE”.

Since then it’s been David Yates – has it helped having him all the way?
“I think whoever directed the sixth had to direct the seventh; you needed to ensure that there wouldn’t be a distraction there, of a change in style. I’m thrilled that David did them all, he’s the loveliest man, so quiet and soft-spoken, but he has an incredible vision for plots. He can see the entire film in front of him. He can come up to me when we’re doing scene 328 and reference something we did in scene 8, and I’ve got no memory for those things."

What role do you have your eye on if they remake this in 30 years?
“I don’t! But if I have to, Sirius if they do it in 30 years, and Dumbledore if they do it in 50. But Sirius is the part that everyone wants; Ian Hart had just read the third book on set of the [first] movie, and he was kicking himself that he didn’t get Sirius. But of course I was glad that went to Gary Oldman, because as you all know he's my true love.”

Not Snape?
“I don’t think so, but only because Alan Rickman is so indelibly printed on that role for me and I can’t imagine anyone else doing it.”

Mr. Schuester Likely Won’t Shave His Head For Glee's Britney Episode

Gleek Alert! Rumors have been flying in recent weeks that Matthew Morrison – who plays Glee club director Mr. Will Schuester on “Glee” – will shave his head in the upcoming Britney Spears tribute episode, something Jane Lynch confirmed to Access Hollywood last week. Those plans, however, may have changed.

AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman caught up with the stars of “Glee” at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night and found out the shearing scene may be off.

Heather Morris, who plays cheerleader Brittany on the wildly popular show, told Laura that the entire plan may be nixed now that the shaving secret got out.

“I guess they’re deciding not to do it now because it was kind of supposed to be like the surprise, you know,” Heather said. “Then [executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] got wind that everybody found out and he was like, ‘I don’t think we can do it anymore because now it’s out.’ “

If Ryan decides to keep the scene, and clippers are required for Will, Matthew told Access that he’d actually shave his head, instead of using a bald cap.

“I’d have to shave it ‘cause then it wouldn’t make sense with the rest of the series,” Matthew said.

Gleeks needn’t worry though – Matthew said that he’ll still be a sexy Schuester, bald or not.

“I’m so hot,” he said, jokingly. “I did it a couple of years ago for a movie and I like it.”

Heather said she too would be up for the hair-free treatment.

“Maybe they’ll have my character do it. Maybe they’ll have Brittany shave her head,” Heather laughed.

The blond noted, however, that she wouldn’t say goodbye to her lengthy locks for the potential scene.

“I would do the bald cap,” she added.

In related news, “Glee’s” Harry Shum, Jr. confirmed to Laura that fans can expect to hear Britney hits “Toxic,” “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” “Oops, I Did It Again,” and possibly “I’m A Slave 4 U.”

“I think there’s going to be some homage to costumes of Britney music videos,” Harry added. “I’m excited to see that — those costumes are epic!”

Snooki 'I'm Too Pretty To Be In Jail'

The disorderly conduct charge carries a potential fine of between $250 and $1,000, but Snooki will not face any jail time. That's a good thing, clearly, because one place the 22-year-old does not want to be is behind bars.

"I'm too pretty to be in jail," Snooki said. "I'm a good person. I'm not a criminal, and I will never go back there."

'True Blood' says NO to Snoop Dogg cameo

The stars of HBO vampire drama True Blood have dismissed suggestions that Snoop Dogg will appear on the show.

The rapper previously admitted that he would like a cameo role and also released a song dedicated to lead character Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin).

However, speaking at a UK convention, Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) denied that Dogg was being lined up for a part.

"Apparently Snoop has wanted to be on the show from the beginning, but I don’t think [creator] Alan Ball is going to let that happen," he explained. "Having such a high-profile person appear in the show, I think it would take us all out of Bon Temps. [Alan] doesn't need to cast Snoop Dogg to get people to watch."

He added: "We're glad he watches and likes the show though."

Tramell's co-star Kristin Bauer (Pam Ravenscroft) agreed that casting the rapper could be damaging for the series.

"A lot of times on TV when ratings dip they go for stunt casting," she said. "It's not a good thing, and we definitely don't need that yet."

Lady Gaga is eyeing a career on the big screen and plans to star in her own blockbuster.

Report state that Gaga’s movie will be a cross between Michael Jackson’s film Moonwalker, which tied together the music videos for his Bad album, and the Oscar-winning flick Dreamgirls which starred Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson. Director Bryan Singer, best known for his work on the X-Men films, is said to be interested in the project.

"Gaga is a real creative genius and is thinking about new possibilities all the time,” a source told News of the World. "She's very excited about a movie, but she wants to do it right. She wants to work with the best people in the business."

The singer was inspired to make the leap to the silver screen while on the set of her epic nine-minute video for Telephone. “Lady Gaga is a workaholic who loves pushing the boundaries. Straight music is never going to be enough for her,” the insider said. “If she isn't breaking new ground and doing new things she doesn't really feel that she is truly alive. The Telephone video was the closest thing she has done to a film and she was in her element.”

“Gaga wants to emulate what Michael Jackson did during the eighties,” they continued. “You can already see that with her music videos. Every one of them is a mini event. So it's only logical she moves that on to the big screen.”

OFFICIAL: Britney Spears Will Not Appear on Glee

The upcoming Britney Spears Glee tribute episode may have been the pop star’s management's own idea, but the singer herself will not be appearing in it.

“Britney’s not in it,” Jane Lynch told reporters today at her wax figure unveiling at Madame Tussaud’s in Hollywood, Calif. “It’s a tribute to her music.”

Even though Spears herself will be absent from the episode, Lynch promises that tales from entertainer’s real life will be tied into the show’s storyline.

One of our all-time favorite tales, in fact.

“It’s kind of [about] how Matt [Morrison]‘s character Mr. Schuster doesn’t see any value in her and the kids really do,” she says. “And at the end [of the episode], he comes around and he likes [her music] so much, he shaves his head.”

Who would have guessed Britney shaving her head would one day inspire an episode of a Fox comedy about a glee club. You can't make this stuff up.

On the subjects of Spears and Glee, her ex Justin Timberlake has been rumored to appear on the series also ... and also isn't likely to actually do so.

“I love him,” the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy, who also wrote the screenplay for Eat, Pray, Love, told reporters last week at TCA. “But I think somebody just said, ‘Do you want him?’ And I think Lea [Michele] said, ‘He’s my favorite.’"

'Supernatural' and 'One Tree Hill' may continue past next seasons

One Tree Hill and Supernatural may continue beyond their current season order according to The CW president Dawn Ostroff. Supernatural was renewed for a sixth season by the broadcaster despite earlier statements by creator and producer Eric Kripke that the drama was devised to run for five years - a five year arc had been constructed. This prompted many fans to believe that Supernatural’s fifth season would be its last however, over the course of the season it became apparent that a sixth season was on the cards and this was later confirmed by Ostroff who ordered a new year.

“Everybody on the show feels there’s a lot of juice left in the characters. We hope it goes on for more than one season” Dawn Ostroff quoted on Entertainment Weekly.

Actors Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki will return for the sixth season and Kripke will still be involved with the new season but now it seems as though The CW is looking beyond season six. On the recent press tour Dawn Ostroff said The CW was hopeful and confident Supernatural would be back for a 7th season.

It isn’t just Supernatural that The CW see returning for yet another season - it’s veteran drama One Tree Hill was also singled out by Ostroff as having a life beyond its new season order. The drama was given a late renewal order by The CW which lead to the press to conclude, wrongly, that The CW would renew Life Unexpected over One Tree Hill - in the end the broadcaster renewed both. The drama will return for an eighth season later this year but it seems The CW can see it returning for a ninth as well. Not bad for a drama that, for its first few years, was eclipsed by The O.C and was the subject of cancellation rumours!

'American Idol' Signs Deal with Universal, Parts with Sony

American Idol" producer 19 Entertainment and creator Simon Fuller moved on from its nine-year marketing and distribution deal with Sony Music Entertainment Tuesday (Aug. 3), severing a relationship that produced chart-topping successes with Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson but has failed in recent years to produce an equivalent hitmaker.

Starting with "Idol's" tenth season in January 2011, the development, distribution and marketing of "Idol" contestants will be handelled by Universal Music Group's Interscope Geffen A&M.

The new partnership could provide a puzzle piece in the ongoing saga as to who will fill "Idol's" judges table next season; Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman Jimmy Iovine has long been floated as a contender for the job. He previously dabbled in television during the dot com heyday, launching music discovery program "Farmclub.com" on USA Network. Also recently pegged as potential new judges are Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

In a statement, Lucian Grainge, co-CEO of UMG said; "We like delivering hits and new artists," stated Mr. Grainge. "UMG and 'American Idol' is the right combination at the right time. Pairing the renowned expertise of Simon [Fuller] and Jimmy in developing and marketing musical talent creates a truly winning combination that will allow 'Idol's' artists to realize their fullest potential."

Sony issued its own statement: "After enjoying a successful relationship, Sony Music Entertainment wishes Simon Fuller and 19 Entertainment well in this transitional period for the 'American Idol' franchise. We look forward to continuing our relationships with the many artists on the Sony Music roster who have graduated from the 'American Idol' system, including Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, David Cook, Adam Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta among others and we are excited for the upcoming albums later this fall from Season 9's winner and runner-up Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox."

UMG takes on the role as music industry partner to the show at a tenuous time: last year was the lowest-rated season since "Idol" launched on Fox in 2002 and the show's consistent brash personality, judge Simon Cowell, is leaving to develop a version of his U.K. hit "The X-Factor" for Fox in 2011.

Fans of Hannah Montana can rest easy: Despite comments to the contrary, Miley Cyrus will not burn her famous wig when the Disney series comes to an end.

"No, I just made a joke and everyone started flipping out," Cyrus says. "I'm not really going to burn it.

"I already burned it," she quips, before quickly adding, "Just kidding!"

Still, it's hard not to see the final season of Hannah Montana (premiering tomorrow on the Family Channel, under the title Hannah Montana Forever) as the end of an era. Cyrus was an 11-year-old when she auditioned for the show; now, the 17-year-old is a millionaire many times over, has sold countless albums and has begun her (often controversial) attempts to be taken seriously as an adult.

Cyrus's fans have grown up, too, going from children who idolize the actress to adolescents who have to worry about college and grown-up life.

And that, Cyrus says, is exactly why this is the perfect time for Hannah Montana to come to an end.

"You don't want it to grow up too much, where the younger audience feel they can't watch the show anymore," she explains. "But also, (don't) go backwards and make it so young that you lose the older fans that you have. So I think it's just kind of come to a point where there's not much more we could do with (the show)."

Now, Cyrus says, she's looking forward to both her career as a singer and as an adult actress. The transition hasn't been an easy one (the tabloids are filled with criticisms about her revealing outfits and suggestive lyrics), but Cyrus points out that she can't stay a squeaky-clean child forever, nor did she ever claim she'd try.

"Yes, I want to be a role model and have people look up to me, but this also doesn't mean that I am not going to live the way that I want to live or (do) what I think is right," says Cyrus, adding that her family still guides her in her decisions.

"They keep me grounded. But that doesn't mean I'm always going to be perfect. ... So I think it's been easier for me to grow up, because I've never faked it, saying that I'm always going to be Hannah forever. I'm going to grow up at some point, and I've been always honest about that."

Make no mistake, though: Cyrus is definitely going to miss Hannah Montana when it's over.

"I'll just miss coming on the set and being with people that are excited to work with you and people that are your real friends," she says wistfully. "(If) we have a good run-through (for) an episode, where people are constantly laughing, it makes you want to come in for the next week and make people laugh again."

Cyrus hopes her viewers will understand the final episode of Hannah Montana may be the end of the series, but it won't be the end for the character they've fallen in love with.

"Life will go on, you know, just the way anyone else's life goes on," Cyrus says. "We made it more about a new chapter and not about the ending of something. It is the end, but it's also the beginning of something new."

Matthew Vaughn: First Class' 'Has A Lot Of Heart,'

Director Matthew Vaughn dipped his toes into the comic book movie waters with "Kick-Ass," his gritty adaptation of the controversial comic book series of the same name. With his next film, "X-Men: First Class," he's diving into the deep end.

Speaking to MTV News while promoting this week's release of "Kick-Ass" on DVD and Blu-ray, Vaughn said he isn't worried about the growing cast list for the film, which includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, "Twilight" alum Edi Gathegi and Alice Eve, among others.

"It doesn't feel that busy," Vaughn told MTV News when asked whether he's concerned about cramming too many mutants into the film. "I don't feel worried about it. I think it will be really cool to see all these guys doing their stuff. I'm very keen that it has a lot of heart, this movie. You understand where these characters have come from, and you obviously know where they're going, but to see that very important point of their lives where they're discovering their power and working out their ethical take on what to do with their power is a very interesting story to tell."

Vaughn also offered up some details about the setting for the film, which he said "absolutely" positions it as an in-continuity prequel to the other "X-Men" films made over the last decade.

"I have to give a lot of credit to ['First Class' producer] Bryan Singer, because he came up with a very clever, very interesting way of integrating the characters into recent history—not necessarily too recent, though. I don't want to spoil it for you, but ... it just kind of worked. How he integrated the characters into the world and the political climate of the time, it was very clever."

According to Vaughn, the film will focus on the first meeting of Charles Xavier (originally played by Patrick Stewart, now played by McAvoy) and Magneto (formerly Ian McKellen, now Fassbender), and follow the pair through their friendship and subsequent parting of ways. The film will also feature a veritable who's-who of new mutants from Marvel Comics' stable of X-Men characters, including Banshee and Darwin, as well as returning favorites like Beast.

"The backdrop of what's going on in the world when [Magneto and Xavier] first meet, it's very interesting," said Vaughn. "To see them and their relationship develop and play out with this major political event in the background is very clever and cool."

The magazine's founder, Marc Eckõ, calls the recently imprisoned 24-year-old, 'the consummate professional.'

He says the actress - who appears on the cover of the latest issue - has 'real talent.'

Eckõ goes on to say: 'Yes, she can be a pain in the a** to work with, but for all the chaos and calamity of her life, she is the consummate professional, a natural when she's in front of a camera.'

According to an article inside the magazine, the actress allegedly didn't respond to their calls to arrange the interview.

Offering up a shy wave to awaiting paparazzi, the Russian pianist is in the midst of a bitter separation from allegedly abusive ex, Mel Gibson.

The creator of the Doctor Who spin-off talks about his plans for the show, returning in 2011

When Russell T Davies relocated to sunny Los Angeles after handing on the Doctor Who torch to Steven Moffat, we kinda expected his next project to be something outside our genre – perhaps something in the vein of Queer As Folk? Wrong! Turns out he’s been beavering away on yet another new permutation of Torchwood. When the series returns to our screens in 2011 for a new adventure (one long story, consisting of 10 episodes), it will have a very American flavour. Most of it will be shot and set in the States (or other foreign countries), and round about now, a writers’ room of American TV scribes are starting work. It’s all happening thanks to a co-production deal struck between US network Starz, BBC Wales and BBC Worldwide (the BBC’s commercial arm).

So, did you always know you’d be doing more Torchwood?

“Well it was always possible. I remember when Children Of Earth launched, you always get asked, ‘Is this is the end or will it continue?’ and there’s no true answer to that because you’re always in a state of suspension – if it ends, it ends and if it carries on, it carries on. It’s too soon to give away the story, but I’ve always had this story in mind, and the whole existence of season four will make sense once you know what the story is. I’d already moved out here, and it’d sort of been half in development, and then once those viewing figures came in it went into proper development. Actually, Jane Tranter [head of BBC Worldwide's American arm] planned this more than I ever did. For many years she was going to move out here and do this job, and she’s always wanted dramas that could move onto that sort of scale and be funded in this way, so it all fitted with her plan really – it all just sort of naturally fell into place. And if no-one had ever bought it I’d now be telling you it was naturally dead!”

So tell us about the co-production deal – this is a very different way of doing things.

“It’s a new model for the future, of BBC Worldwide actually becoming a production partner and making stuff for themselves. Their big thing in America is Dancing With The Stars, which is the American Strictly Come Dancing. They sell that format all over the world, but they actually make that for American television and it’s hugely successful, more successful than Strictly is – this year it overtook American Idol for the first time ever. So that’s part of building up a production base here, of taking British ideas – and new ideas – and making them on a worldwide scale. It’s a really good ambition, I think, and it’s going to have to be the case more and more. If you look at things like Dickens adaptations and Cranford, they haven’t been able to afford themselves for decades – they’re all made with money from Boston and stuff like that. Co-partner funding has been the future for decades now.”

I seem to remember the first series of Doctor Who was a co-production with Canada...

“That was different – there are different levels of it. There was no collaboration whatsoever with Canada – if they hadn’t liked a plot or some casting it wouldn’t have mattered at all. This is the next stage, which is just another partner, where they do have a say and they’re providing a lot of money and a lot of input. So it’s interesting. I think it”ll happen a lot more, especially when you’re looking at a licence fee that’s not going up with inflation now – and it’s bound to get frozen any day now with those stupid bastards in charge of the country! So this is the way forward! We are the future!”

Of course, as soon as it was announced that Starz was involved, everyone on the net started talking about Torchwood turning into Spartacus: Blood And Sand!

“Have you stuck with Spartacus? Because I was a bit off-put by the first two episodes, and then it turns into one of the most marvellous dramas you’ve ever seen.”

To be honest, all I saw was Charlie Brooker slagging it off on telly.

“I know, but he’s just another white middle-aged man on the internet – bless him, but he is! Stick with that show, you’ll be really surprised. It takes three episodes to find its feet and then it becomes amazing. ”

You’re working with a “writers’ room” for the first time with this. That’s a very different way of working isn’t it, the American system?

“Well, it’s all writers sitting at a keyboard in the end. When everyone talks about the British system and the American system, no-one ever factors in the evening soap operas that we have in Britain, which are run in exactly that way, with a writers’ room and a commissioning process. We’ve been doing it since 1960, so it’s really nothing new. And I’ve worked in that, so to sit in a room with people doing this is nothing new to me. It’s just we can’t normally afford to do it in Britain, whereas here because they’re in constant production, there’s constant money paying for that system to keep people permanently on board. We’ve some great names coming along - though I can’t say them yet – so it’s very exciting.”

You’ve written the first episode. Will you be writing more?

“That’s still TBC, to be honest. I’d love to write more, but we’ve got a lot of interest from other writers, and I’m happy showrunning the whole thing, so… depends how it pans out, really! Plenty of time to decide.”

Children Of Earth went some very dark places…

“Do you think?! Actually, this story is also very dark. I think with that, Torchwood found its feet. People found something very compelling and very chilling about it. I love the way people got on their high horse saying, ‘Oh, he killed his grandson!’ Hello! He saved every single child in the world! If you would fail to do that then you’re the monster, frankly. It’s this extraordinary treatment that only science fiction heroes get You find that. If ever a word is said out of place by the Doctor or Captain Jack, or even by Sarah Jane sometimes, people throw their hands up in horror, whereas in any other drama any character is capable of any thing at any time. That’s the only way to write, and it’s the same for these people as well. I thought it was fascinating and challenging what he did there, but hard – it was so hard. I do think with the whole of Children Of Earth we found a new heartland for Torchwood.

So this new series will feel consistent with that?

“It does. For faithful viewers you’ll see the same people in the same world, following on. Though it also starts from scratch, because there’s a brand new Starz audience there sitting waiting to be scooped up, new viewers coming to it. But I restarted Doctor Who in 2005 from scratch, so I know what I’m doing. I did it with Children Of Earth, actually – that practically tripled Torchwood’s audience, and noone said to me that they were lost. So it’s a new starting point and yet… as a faithful viewer you do get that awful feeling when something reboots or revamps that you’re not comfortable anymore, and there’s none of that. It’s still Gwen, it’s still Jack, and hopefully more. You’ll feel very comfortable with it. And there’s great new American characters coming into it. Bear in mind, of course, Captain Jack, he’s American as well, so it doesn’t seem quite as alien, I think, as if you suddenly introduced American characters into Emmerdale or something!”

Mel Gibson Didn't Plan to Kill Harvey Levin

There's a story circulating that Oksana Grigorieva told authorities Mel Gibson plotted to break the kneecaps of a "Hollywood figure." Well that story is about TMZ's Harvey Levin, spoon-fed by Oksana's people.

The story is much wilder than reported. Earlier this week, Oksana's rep, Steve Jaffe, told Harvey that Mel had described to Oksana a plot to kill Harvey. Jaffe said Oksana claimed Mel told her he was furious that TMZ broke the story about the anti-Semitic rant following Mel's 2006 DUI arrest. Jaffe said Oksana told him Mel had said he wanted the "blood of Jews" on his hands.

According to Jaffe, Oksana said Mel told her he had someone do "surveillance" on Harvey earlier this year, having him followed to the gym at 4 AM.

The plan, Jaffe said, was to "kidnap" Harvey, strip him, take him deep into the desert, break his kneecaps and leave him to die.

Jaffe told Harvey the story on the heels of complaining that a particular TMZ post was not favorable enough to Oksana.

We checked the "kneecap" story out and determined it was false. For starters, Oksana had the wrong gym. More telling ... Oksana never mentioned a word of this to any of her lawyers while she tried negotiating a $15 million package in May during the mediation, using the tapes as her secret weapon. One person involved in the mediation laughed, saying Oksana brought out every piece of ammunition imaginable to score a financial package, so why was this story mysteriously absent?

Oksana claims to have told the Sheriff's Department the story. It seems deputies took it so seriously ... they never even contacted Harvey to give him a heads up that someone wanted him dead ... allegedly.

UPDATE: Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore tells TMZ, "We categorically deny that any such information was ever given to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department."

Lindsay faces the biggest crisis of her troubled career. She will spend the next two weeks in an L.A. jail and then 90 more days in rehab. This means she won't be available to promote her next film, the Robert Rodriguez action flick "Machete," which opens Sept. 3.

And her summer in the slammer has delayed production on "Inferno," in which she is to play 1970s adult film star Linda Lovelace. That project holds promise and if done right could have Hollywood talking about Lohan's acting ability rather than her antics.

However, writer-director Matthew Wilder has just one credit to his name -- the 2008 dark comedy "Your Name Here" inspired by the life of sci-fi writer Phillip Dick. And a recent explanation of his vision for this new film remains murky. As Wilder explained to RadarOnline.com, "There will be full frontal nudity but it will not be cinematic nudity, it will be more violent nudity. For example, linked images of the Vietnam war, that kind of context." Just what that means remains to be seen.

Lohan's efforts to promote this picture at the Cannes filmfest in May went awry. Volcanic ash ground flights and she missed a court appearance tied to her 2007 arrest for cocaine use and reckless driving. Back then, Lohan served 84 minutes in jail and was put on probation for three years. That was extended by one year when she failed to complete an alcohol-education course.

2007 marked a low point in her film career as well. Lohan starred as a pair of separated-at-birth twins in the horrific "I Know Who Killed Me." The film won a record eight Razzie Awards, including three for Lohan, who tied with herself for worst actress and won worst screen couple.

Less than a decade earlier, Lindsay Lohan had won over audiences and critics playing another set of twins in the 1998 Disney remake of "The Parent Trap." Five years later she starred in another Disney do-over -- "Freaky Friday" -- and won the breakthrough award at the MTV movie kudos. In 2004, she headlined the critically acclaimed "Mean Girls" and won both MTV Movie and Teen Choice awards.

Two years later, Lohan earned good reviews as part of the ensemble casts of a pair of prestigious projects. "A Prairie Home Companion" was the last film from auteur Robert Altman while "Bobby" marked the first feature helmed in a decade by actor Emilio Estevez. That film about events surrounding the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy was a contender at both the Golden Globes and Screen Actor Guild.

If Lohan is looking for inspiration in these dark days, one shining example is Robert Downey Jr., who also came to fame at a young age. He landed an Oscar nomination for "Chaplin" in 1992 but slid off the rails soon after and was arrested numerous times in the late 1990s before serving a year in jail. After his release, he turned to the small screen, winning a Golden Globe for a role on "Ally McBeal." While he lost that job after more trouble with the law, Downey eventually turned himself around and is now at the top of the A-list.

Police Investigating Mel Gibson's Extortion Claims Against Oksana

In yet another chapter of Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva's bitter break-up, authorities are investigating whether or not the actor's ex-girlfriend tried to extort money from him.

"Extortion allegations were brought to our attention [and] we're looking into it," L.A. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore tells PEOPLE.

Gibson, 54, previously claimed the Russian musician, 40, demanded cash from him and, if he didn't pay, threatened to leak recordings of him spewing racist comments and threatening her to the media.

A source says Gibson was planning to present evidence to detectives proving Grigorieva broke the law. He also asserted that she made false claims to police about his alleged abuse.

According to Grigorieva's rep, police aren't launching a full investigation, however. "Looking into something is very different than launching a formal investigation," Grigorieva’s spokesperson Stephen Jaffe, told PEOPLE.

Originality being rewarded with the success of "Inception"

Weekend actuals were released from studios and one very important lesson is being learned as the Summer of 2010 is rolling along, original material is dominating the box office this weekend, and possibly this year.

Inception, the high risk project from Christopher Nolan, took in well over $62 million over this past weekend, check out the review here. With a release in 3,792 theaters, the movie averaged $16,557 per theater. Second place was Despicable Me, with an average of $9,370 per theater for a $32 million second weekend. The Steve Carrell animation film is at a gross of $118 million in the United States alone with only a $69 million budget.

The two films were the clear champions for the weekend and both were based on original ideas. The other wide release this week, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, was a feature length film interpretation of the Fantasia piece brought to live action. The film grossed only $17.6 million over the three day weekend, with a rumored budget reaching $150 million or more, that’s not the returns Disney needs. It only further proves that without Pixar, Disney success stories are hard to find.

The real story though is Inception the film is generating massive amounts of discussion, continuing hype, and most importantly debate. The film, unlike most of the summer’s offerings, actually left audiences with something to discuss more than an explosion or how it differed from the source material it was derived from.

Inception has hopefully opened a gate for original works to be treated with respect and become more of the summer tent poles than dragging franchises out until the material has become so exhausted they just can’t think of another story line, see Shrek Forever After for a prime example.

The Nolan directed film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has already started hitting the international scene as well and will continue to be released in different countries through September. Expect to see impressive numbers internationally as well.

Sources are telling TMZ that Kate Major called the Southampton Town Police on Monday (July 19) at around 2pm, just before Lohan flew off to Los Angeles where his daughter Lindsay was turning herself in.

Apparently, a heated argument escalated between Michael and Jon Gosselin’s ex-fling and supposedly Lohan shoved Major over a chair, injuring her shoulder.

"The Office" will go on!

Steve Carell may ride off into the sunset after season seven of 'The Office,' but apparently, the show will go on. Variety.com is reporting that B.J. Novak, who plays former temp Ryan Howard and also serves as a writer/producer on the show, has signed a deal to come back for the upcoming seventh season and an eighth season.

Novak's new contract will make him executive producer next season (he's already a co-executive producer) and he'll direct two episodes. Novak directed the 'Scott's Tots' episode in season six, in which Michael Scott promised a group of students he'd pay their college tuition if they graduated high school, and also directed the Webisodes series 'The Office: Blackmail.'

Novak will also have the opportunity to develop new projects for Universal Media Studios.

Carell, who is the heart of the cast as boss Michael Scott, has said he is leaving the show after season seven. He has a number of film projects in the works, and may leave to spend more time on the big screen. That may leave an opening for Howard, who has gone from temp to executive and back down to office drone, to once again take a leadership position at Dunder Mifflin.

Novak has been part of the writing staff from the beginning of the show, penning episodes like 'Diversity Day,' 'Sexual Harassment,' 'The Fire,' and 'Dream Team.' He has held a variety of titles with 'The Office,' serving as co-executive producer, supervising producer, and executive story editor.

Five Ideas for the Now-Possible Inception Sequel

When Warner Bros. agreed to foot the $160 million bill for Inception, they probably just thought they were doing an easy Batman-deductible favor for the director whose Dark Knight made them like a billion dollars. But now that Christopher Nolan's passion project has earned $90 million worldwide in its first five days, it's hard to imagine that the studio isn't considering the film's franchise potential. Sure, Inception was very obviously designed as a stand-alone movie, with an ambiguous ending that would be cheapened by a sequel — but there's money to be made here! To help WB make their pitch to Nolan, we've come up with five ideas for an Inception 2.

Inceptions
If you thought the first movie was confusing, wait until you see Dom Cobb and his team try to break up a company by implanting opposing ideas in the dreams (and dreams within dreams, etc.) of its two different founders, simultaneously!

Inception: The Sleepsquel
Yesterday, CHUD's Devin Faraci posted and interesting theory that the dream-making process in Inception is a metaphor for film-making: Leonardo DiCaprio is playing a director (a version of Nolan), Saito is his producer, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dileep Rao, and Tom Hardy are his crew, and Cillian Murphy is the movie/dream's "audience". So Inception 2 could be Nolan's meta-commentary on the Hollywood sequel making process: Dom Cobb and his team battle Saito over money, Ellen Page quits her job as the architect and gets replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal; and then they all halfheartedly reenter Murphy's subconscious. Also, since Nolan hates 3-D, Yusef the chemist could invent a powerful new sedative that makes dreams more vivid and allows the team to charge more money for their work-until it ends up killing everybody.

Inception II: Cobb Returns
On Sunday, we theorized that in Inception, Cobb is actually the one being "incepted"-called back to reality by someone who doesn't want to see him "become an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone". Assuming the plan worked, he is free from regret over Mal's death, and Inception's final scene was not a dream, a sequel could feature a refreshed, reality-based Cobb taking on more extraction jobs against the wishes of his disapproving friends and family. (If Inception's final scene was a dream though, Inception 2 could just be 150 minutes of Michael Caine shouting "Wake up!" in a sleeping Leonardo DiCaprio's ear).

Inception 2: Unception
Owing to a clerical error, Cobb's team accidentally implants a guy with an idea meant for somebody else, so they have to go back in to convince him his previous dream was caused by some bad oysters.

Preception
How about a prequel? What was Cobb's job like back when he was single and before his nagging wife started turning up in dreams and ruining all the fun? Probably awesome: endless in-limbo keg-partying, threesomes with hot projections, etc.

Expert Says Oksana Grigorieva Could Face More Legal Trouble Than Mel Gibson!

The scandalous saga between Mel Gibson and his former flame Oksana Grigorieva continues to grow uglier and more complicated with each passing day.

While most of the heat has been thrust upon the A-list actor, given the release of those expletive-ridden recordings and allegations that he hit both Grigorieva and their baby daughter Lucia, the tables now seem to be turning with many questioning the accuracy of the Russian songstress’ highly-damaging claims.

Grigorieva alleges that Gibson knocked out a tooth and veneer amid one of their heated domestic disputes back in January – but according to TMZ, her dentist Dr. Ross Sheldon, begs to differ.

His medical charts and records apparently show no evidence of a strike to the mouth and demonstrate that her teeth were fully in tact, however Sheldon reportedly observed a bruise on her left temple which may have caused her to bite down incredibly hard and subsequently lose one veneer and damage another.

On that note, it seems that this bitter custody battle is impacting more people than just Gibson and Grigorieva – the dentist could now be faced with serious legal consequences of his own. Grigorieva reportedly told Sheldon at the time of the incident that Gibson had harmed her, however he failed to report this to authorities. Under California law, health practitioners are under obligation to file a police report if they have reasonable grounds to suspect “[assault] or abusive conduct against a spouse or cohabitant.”

The Russian singer is the mother of Mel Gibson's eighth child.

“The dentist could now potentially face problems with the Dental board, and action could be taken against his medical license,” explained California Defense Attorney, Steve Cron.

Grigorieva also alleges that the 54-year-old film star struck their then two-month-old daughter Lucia, and Radar Online reports that there are photos showing the infant’s bruise under seal at the Los Angeles Superior Court. But so far, there is no indication that the 39-year-old mother actually took Lucia to a pediatrician to ensure that no further damage had been done, and if she did, no police report was filed.

Just a couple of weeks prior to this alleged incidence of violence, Grigorieva told Pop Tarts that Mel had advised her to “prepare to be judged” and to “maintain her equilibrium” as she pursued a showbiz career.

However, if – and it is a big if – Grigorieva is proven to have manipulated the details regarding Gibson’s actions of abuse and thus filed a false police report, or if she edited the secretly recorded tapes of Gibson ranting as his camp asserts, she could be in severe trouble.

“The conflicting stories surrounding Oksana’s teeth creates some question around the credibility of all her claims, and could question her credibility when it comes to visitation and custody,” Cron explained. “Gibson could then potentially file a civil lawsuit for slander or defamation, but, most likely, we wouldn’t want to drag this out any further.”

An insider connected with those working on the investigation predicted that due to the complexity of the case, it could now take up to six months before it is taken to the District Attorney.

“Police are going over this with a fine tooth-comb, and Oksana will have a lot of explaining to do,” said our source. “Also the DCFS did not rush over to Mel when her police report was first filed, which may suggest they had reason to believe the child was not in serious or immediate danger.”

Reps for Gibson declined to comment on the situation. Grigorieva’s attorney did not respond for comment.

Furthermore, Gibson’s legal counsel has reportedly met with police to present evidence in an attempt to prove Grigorieva threatened to extort her ex – in exchange for ten million dollars; she would not release the tapes.

“It is starting to look more and more like a good old-fashioned shake down for money
,” added Hollywood image consultant, Michael Sands. “We all know Mel is a childish name caller as those tapes have proved, but that’s very different to being a violent monster. Something just isn’t right here.”

Lindsay Lohan needs a court appeal, not just sober living.

Her dad, Michael Lohan, spoke out about his starlet daughter Sunday, insisting that it's a conflict of interest that Lindsay checked into a sober living facility founded by her new lawyer, Robert Shapiro.

Instead, he said his 24-year-old daughter really needs "a lot of prayers" and an attorney who will appeal her July 6 sentence from Judge Marsha Revel for three consecutive 30-day jail stints for violating probation for a pair of 2007 DUI busts.

The troubled Hollywood party-girl is slated to report to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif. on Tuesday.

But before any of that could go down, LiLo on Wednesday checked into Pickford Lofts, a Los Angeles sober house that uses meetings, meditation, and the 12-step program to address addiction.

Ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson visited her there Saturday and mom Dina dropped in Friday, according to TMZ.com.

The program was founded by Shapiro, who famously represented O.J. Simpson.

"It's a conflict of interest if he's putting her in his own sober house but not doing anything for her legally," Michael Lohan said of Shapiro, whose son Brent died of a drug overdose in 2005. "An attorney is ethically responsible for defending their client to the best of their ability."

"But when you have an attorney like Robert Shapiro, who went through so much with his own son and knows the effects of prescription medications, it doesn't make sense that he did nothing to appeal her case and get her off the meds before she goes to jail," Michael Lohan told the Daily News on Sunday.

"Everyone knows that when you go into the jail or prison system, if you're on prescriptions written by a doctor, they give them to you in prison," he said, adding that jail won't help Lindsey unless she gets addiction treatment.

"It's a continuous cycle. Here you are punishing a girl because she has a drug problem, or at least for things that resulted from a drug problem and not doing anything to fix it. I'm very upset that Robert Shapiro did nothing to appeal the case."

In response, Shapiro said, "I will wait to court to address all issues."

Lohan added that it was "sickening" to see his daughter sentenced to jail.

"There were a lot of mixed emotions in that courtroom," he said of the sentencing.

"First of all, hurt for her, and hurt that I saw the same people around her who enabled her, all sitting right up in front of me and behind me. It was sickening."

"The hardest part was that she was blindsided. She really didn't think she was going to get jail time. When she did her speech, I could see the actress Lindsay coming out.

"No father wants to see his daughter go through that. It broke my heart. The floodgates opened."

Whoopi Goldberg has come under fire for remarks she made in defense of Mel Gibson after several of his obscene, racially-charged rants leaked online.

"There has been a lot of hassle ... in the media recently about moi because I had the audacity to say that I had some personal time with Mel that goes over years and years and said that I did not think of him as a racist," Whoopi began on 'The View' today.

"If you had actually watched the show, you would have heard us say, and you would have heard me specifically say, 'I don't condone this. I don't think this is right, I don't think this is smart. But here's the piece of information that I have. My experience tells me that this is not a racist,'" she continued.

"Being a black woman, you'd think you would give me a little bit of leeway to have some feelings if I was around a racist."

"People called my office and went off on the young lady that works there. You're going to call because you think that I'm doing something wrong. And you do the same thing to this young lady that you don't even know that Mel Gibson supposedly did? Who are you?" she says, making a spitting noise. "You can kiss my behind."

On Monday, Whoopi explained her position on Mel. "I know Mel, and I know he's not a racist. I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he's being a bonehead, but I can't sit and say that he's a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don't like what he's done, make no mistake."

Goldberg also blamed his 2006 anti-Semitic tirade after being stopped by police on alcohol. "Drunks say stupid stuff to people all the time -- because they're drunk, they're out of control, they are not thinking, they are idiotic. I can't say anything about people like that because I know what they're like when they're drunk."

But her fellow hosts weren't as keen to forgive the actor. Joy Behar told The Insider that Mel is not welcome on 'The View.' "Barbara [Walters] would not allow him on the show."

"Barbara's Jewish, he's an anti-Semite, he's a racist ... so he's done," Behar added.

The fourth tape of Gibson yelling at his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva recently surfaced. In it, he makes demands for oral sex before threatening to burn the house down.

"Inception" gives fans a movie to think about

What's wrong with this picture? The summer season's biggest buzz movie has no robots, no vampires, no aliens, no toys, or no comic book characters in iron suits.

And it's not even in 3D!

But what "Inception," which debuts in theaters on Friday, does have is Leonardo DiCaprio, "Dark Knight" director Chris Nolan and enough sharp thinking to sink the Titanic.

The big-budget, sci-fi film about a team of freelance dream thieves headed by DiCaprio's Dom Cobb is no frothy teen dream populated by women in little clothing, men baring their six-pack abs, or robots bashing the pixels out of each other.

Instead, Nolan, who also wrote and produced "Inception," plunges the audience into the murky and often disturbing depths of the subconscious mind, where anything goes but nothing is quite what it seems.

In one harrowing scene, Cobb's wife (Oscar winner Marion Cotillard) commits suicide in front of him! Or, is it all in Cobb's deranged mind?

"I've always been fascinated with dreams, and with memory and perception, and I set out to explore those areas more in this film," said Nolan, who first tackled such provocative themes in his low-budget thriller, "Memento."

Cobb is a thief, skilled in extracting valuable secrets from within people's subconscious during their dreams. His rare ability has made him a coveted player in the world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive.

He takes one last job from a powerful businessman (Ken Watanabe) and to help, Cobb forms a group of dream thieves, including two played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page.

But this last job calls for planting an idea -- instead of stealing one -- in the mind of a rival businessman's son, and the thieves' plan soon unravels with dangerous consequences.

TOO BRAINY FOR SUMMER?

Well-known for his visual flair in films like "Batman Begins" and "Dark Knight", Nolan pulled out all the stops on "Inception" to bring his dreamscape to life.

He deployed what he called "bizarre rigs" and "bizarre sorts of torture devices," especially in several weightless scenes with Gordon-Levitt, to manipulate time and space and audiences' perceptions of reality.

"I wanted to keep audiences guessing about exactly what's going on," Nolan said.

And he's not kidding.

Early reviews have, for the most part, been positive, yet few critics seem able to fully explain the movie.

"Obviously this story structure was extremely ambitious in the fact that, simultaneously, you had four different states of the human subconscious that represented different dream-states, and each one affected the other," DiCaprio told a recent gathering of reporters.

The star called "Inception," "a multi-layered almost at times existential high-action, high-drama, surreal film."

So far during Hollywood's summer season, it has been sequels including "Toy Story 3," "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Iron Man 2" selling the bulk of tickets, alongside family films such as "The Karate Kid" and "Despicable Me." In short, it has been business as usual.

But "Inception," which has been shrouded in secrecy, is an adult-oriented film with adult-minded themes -- albeit wrapped in explosions, car chases and dazzling visual effects.

Typically those types of adult-themed movies hit theaters in the fall, after kids have gone back to school. Yet Nolan doesn't seem too worried about bringing out his unusual movie at an unusual time for Hollywood.

"I really believe audiences like to be challenged, and yes, there's a lot of stuff going on," he said. "But you don't have to get it all to enjoy it. You can just enjoy the ride without analyzing all the layers."

Grown Ups a fun, but lacking comedy

Is Grown Ups the hysterical comedy it should have been, based on the comic talent assembled? Well, no. It’s a mildly funny get-together of some comics. It is as if the audience is getting a sneak peek into their vacation. The laughs (and there are some big ones) in fact work. It’s just that there aren’t enough of them.

The setup is that five friends who were on a high school basketball team are brought together when their old coach passes away. They return for the weekend to the lake house where they celebrated their team’s championship victory. The friends haven’t seen each other for a while. Lenny, Eric, Kurt, Marcus and Rob (Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider) all are married with the exception of Marcus, so there are wives and plenty of kids. Lenny, who is a big-time Hollywood agent, is married to Roxanne (Salma Hayak) a famous designer, and in fact the two, along with their kids – two stuck-up brats and a cute little girl – can’t even stay, having to travel to Italy for Roxanne’s fashion show.

The comedy in the screenplay by Sandler and Fred Wolf takes all forms from slapstick (everyone’s seen the trailer with James slamming into a tree), to low-brow, to verbal. There’s the 4-year-old son of Eric and Sally (Maria Bello) who still breastfeeds, Kurt’s mother in-law (Ebony Jo-Ann) who never misses an opportunity to “ride him” on just about everything, and oh, she has a flatulence problem. There are also the five guys the group beat in the championship game, and they desperately want a rematch.

Grown Ups is a big missed opportunity. The screenplay is dull. Maybe Sandler wanted to get the feeling of a group of old friends getting their families together for a time, hanging out and seeing what funny things could transpire. That’s all well and good, but there should have been some flow to it. Yes, the physical humor works, but it’s too laid back. Director Dennis Dugan, an old hand with Sandler (he’s directed five of Sandler’s films), never pushes the action. The film has a stop and start way about it. One gag ends, dead space, another gag begins. The only time the film takes off is when everyone hits a water park. That section of the film is funny and shows the friendship and family connection that the rest of the film desperately tries to convey.

One can’t blame Sandler for trying something different. He’s done it in the past with Click (2006), Anger Management (2003), and Reign Over Me (2007), and there have been others, even last year’s Funny People. They haven’t all been successful, but at least they all felt like he put more than a little effort into them. With Grown Ups it feels like he thought having his comic friends together would be enough, but it’s just all right.

Is The Last Airbender really a 3-D movie?

Roger Tyson of Coquitlam asks: The Last Airbender is being advertised as a 3D movie, but I don't recall it being a 3D movie when it started production. What's up? Is this really a 3D movie or is it just some after-the-fact 3Difying deal designed to make money duping us into believing we'll see something incredible?

The short answer is yes. Director M Night Shyamalan decided after the picture was shot that he'd like to convert it to 3-D. No doubt he was attempting to ride on the coattails of Avatar's success.

According to HitFix.com, Shyamalan was pushing as recently as April for the film to be converted to 3D and had been testing the effect on footage for months. (It was released July 2, 2010.)

Projections indicated the conversion could mean an additional $5 to $10 million in box office.

Rapper to release Heath Ledger's final work

Rapper N'fa will release a single that he worked on with Heath Ledger before the actor's death two years ago.

The pair collaborated on the song 'Cause An Effect', with Ledger directing the music video. It was the last project that Ledger worked on, and is released this week.

Eclipse is the #10 fastest movie to reach $200m in history!

Twilight Eclipse grossed $7.93 million on Thursday, topping the North American box-office chart for the ninth consecutive day and crossing the $200m mark domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.

Directed by David Slade, written by Melissa Rosenberg (from Stephenie Meyer‘s novel), starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, and featuring Bryce Dallas Howard, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Xavier Samuel, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Facinelli, among others, Eclipse‘s nine-day total currently stands at $203.66m.

Eclipse is currently on the #10 spot among the fastest movies to reach $200 million on the Box Office Mojo chart (not adjusted for inflation). This year, only Toy Story 3 is ahead on the chart, having crossed the $200m milestone with $208m on Day 9.

If inflation were taken into account, Eclipse would be down one spot at no. 11, following the 2002 release Spider-Man (with $202m on Day 9).

Chris Weitz‘s The Twilight Saga: New Moon, released in Nov. ’09, crossed the $200m mark with $205m on Day 8. New Moon is on the list’s no. 4 spot.

Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and Iron Men 2 crossed the $200m mark only on Day 10 (which included two weekends). All three movies — and Toy Story 3 — have gone on to gross more than $300m domestically. (Avatar, of course, has taken in more than $700m.)
